My trip to The Childhood Museum

As our project is based on Self and Identity, we were given the task of visiting at least 2 museums that would help introduce this topic. I thought visiting The Childhood Museum would be ideal as I feel a persons childhood is what shapes ones identity. This task was worthwhile and enjoyable at the same time as I saw numerous toys, games and costumes that a child would usually play with. What I also thought was interesting is the distinct difference in toys for boys and girls. Boys toys would usually be quite aggressive and dark for e.g. there were many army toy soldiers, toy guns and soldier costumes. Whereas girls toys would be quite relaxed and playful as I saw doll houses and Barbie dolls etc. And then there were games for both genders, like snakes & ladders etc.

So, this activity gave me a brief idea of where to research from. Although, I don't remember playing with toys in my childhood, I looked at special objects that I kept from my childhood like a furry ball that I made. A miniature Winnie the pooh doll that a sibling gave to me. This is just a starting point and will help towards my research.

I have taken roughly over 100 pictures in the Childhood Museum however, will only upload a a few :)
